“Be Agile” as today buzz word
Agile – we hear more and more about Agile companies, blogs, and movies, and we are wondering what is this word buzz, so popular in the media. Agile is an innovative way of working that has no framework, but is a subject to the values described in the Agile Manifesto. Despite the fact that the declaration, which was created fifteen years ago is closely related to the work on software development, its message is universal.
In this message, it is important to be more open to the other person and to interact with him while working, regardless of whether we consider a colleague or a client. So people and communication between them is more important than processes and tools. Another important point of the Manifesto is the care for the software, its efficiency and usefulness, instead of focusing entirely on documentation.
Because the customer is important
The program should therefore be adapted to the current needs of users so that the client is fully satisfied with the solution provided to him. Therefore, it is impossible to avoid actions that are aimed at examining the suitability of technology and responding to changes both in the needs and expectations of the client, as well as in the market.
A very important element of being Agile is taking care of customer relations and even cooperation with him, instead of negotiating the contract. And, most importantly, it is to be aware that the working software is a measure of progress. So the point is to be able to offer something better, personalized and worthy of his attention after the tests.
Methodology at a glance
Agile is therefore a kind of methodology, based on the adoption of a specific cycle, which consists of building, measuring and drawing the right conclusions. In an Agile enterprise, there is no hierarchy, no divisions and no rat race – there is teamwork and the aspiration of each individual to make the project successful.
What distinguishes the Agile approach is certainly the philosophy of small steps. The product can be developed through continuous experimentation and testing, to ensure that individual elements pass the exam. When a company receives positive signals about an article that has appeared on the market, both the product and the company can be scaled.
What is still characteristic of running a business in the spirit of being Agile, is self-management. It is always used when such a solution is possible. In such an enterprise, which operates on the basis of Agile principles, teams consist of several people, distinguishing themselves with flexibility, cooperation and efficiency.
